Don't worry, this 'liner' hasn't run aground - it was built on the brow of Bellahouston Hill for the 1938 Empire Exhibition.

Modelled on the mighty Clyde-built liners, the Atlantic restaurant was the epitome of Art Deco opulence, all burnished brass and steel and polished wood panelling, and offered amazing views out over the Exhibition halls and towards the Campsie Fells.

The Exhibition's 16 restaurants were graded and visitors could select where to eat depending on what they could afford. The Empire was the most expensive public eating place, rated as de luxe in the official guide.
