A great 1960's shot of Glasgow Cross and the Gallowgate, showing such once familiar shops as Grandfare, Galpern's furniture store (owned by one-time Lord Provost Myer Galpern), and Woodhouse's D&F Store.

'Get Younger Every Day with Younger's Beer' - you wouldn't get away with an advert like that today.

Sadly, that lovely terrace you see attached to architect A Graham Henderson's Mercat Building, completed in 1928, is long gone, as are all the buildings on the left of the picture.
