The old Renfrew Airport had just opened its new Terminal building in 1954, and how better to celebrate than with a fashion show.

These models took to the tarmac to show off the latest international styles. And don't they look glam?

One of them, Georgina (Gina) Egan, second from the right, went on to hook herself a Maharaja.

The London-born beauty, the daughter of a policeman, married Jagaddipendra Narayan Bhup Bahadur, Maharaja of Cooch Behar in 1956, after meeting at a dinner party, and continuing a secret three-month courtship.

Aye, ye don't meet many Maharajas in Renfrew...
