Jazz legend Count Basie brought his orchestra to Glasgow's St Andrew's Halls in 1957. He played there again in 1959.

Sadly, on his next visit, in 1962, the Halls, with their world-class acoustics, were no more, having been destroyed in a fire earlier in the year.

In 1962, he played the Odeon, in Renfield Street. On the bill with him that time, was Jimmy Logan's singing-half-sister, the supremely talented Annie Ross, performing with vocal trio Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross, but it was Basie and his boys who were the big draw,

Here's the main man, limbering up ahead of that night's two shows. Take it away, Count!
