Heavy rain in 1962 saw the White Cart Water burst its banks and inundate these properties on Millbrae Crescent, in Langside.

While most householders gathered on their front steps, to survey the damage, this plucky woman hoisted up her skirts and went wading - a tricky task when you don't know what's lurking beneath the rising tide.

The lovely terrace of houses, often attributed to Alexander 'Greek' Thomson, were in fact completed after the architect's death, by his former business partner Robert Turnbull.

Flooded many times over the years, hopefully, now, following major remedial work on the river, the homes will remain high and dry.
