Although we can't be sure, we suspect this picture was taken in 1953, to mark the end of sweet rationing.

Tell today's kids that they couldn't get a sweetie, and they'd throw a fit, but a whole wartime generation of wee Glaswegians grew up without access to sugary treats - the city's teeth had never been better.
