With growing concerns about the poor diet of city kids, the Scottish Milk Marketing Board launched its first Children's Milk Bar in Glasgow in 1937, to provide children between the ages of two and 15 with milk during the school summer holidays. Soon, there were four milk bars operating across the city.

Despite their obvious success with these little sookers, the marketing board decided they were too expensive to run, and, come the end of the summer holidays, they all shut up shop.
