It's not often we get the chance in grey old Glasgow, so one blink of sunshine brings out the sunbathers. This trio were grabbing a few rays in George Square in the summer of 1948. And, what a dapper bunch they are, we love the sunglasses, the headscarf used as a handy bandana, and the coats used as makeshift rugs - after all, you don't want to go back to the office after lunch with grass all up your back!

Despite there being less grass on offer in the square today than in 1948, one glimpse of sunshine and every inch is fully booked, with the 'taps aff' brigade exhibiting their beer bellies and tattoos - and sometimes that's just the females of the species!
