It's Christmas 1955, and we're in the toy department of the Pettigrew and Stephens department store, on Sauchiehall Street. Strange thing is, there's not a child to be seen; all is quiet, as parents and shop staff go about their business..

The store, one of the biggest in Scotland, stood on the present site of the Sauchiehall Street shopping centre.
