This eye-catching gable end of Central Station has long proved irresistible to advertisers, offering a prime site for the promotion of their products.

From the 1930s, it was home to Ba-Bru, the beturbanned Indian boy who helped advertise Barr's Irn-Bru. Together with his wee Scottish pal Sandy, they even had their own cartoon strip, and, by the time they disappeared, had become the longest-running advertising campaign in the world.

When Ba-Bru left, in the 1980s, Barr's kept a hold of the site, and installed their Irn-Bru clock.

Today, the site is home to a large digital advertising hoarding, with the adverts changing by the minute.
