Glasgow is a city with layers of history, with fascinating tales lying behind the facades of almost every building in the town.

Tobacconist George Murray Frame - who at one time had 13 shops across the city - got a shock when he renewed the shop sign of his Buchanan Street premises in 1959. Behind his name was a reminder of an earlier emporium and an earlier age - The Copenhagen Glove Depot.

Now, with smoking on the way out, Frame's has gone the same way as the glove shop, and exists only in the memories of a few, yellow-nailed, nicotine-scented customers
