Buying and selling has always been a serious business in Glasgow.
With the Clyde being the entry point for so many goods, it was these guys, photographed in the Glasgow Stock Exchange, in 1962, who kept a weather eye on global commodity prices.
The Glasgow Stock Exchange was founded in 1844, and was originally housed in today's Gallery of Modern Art, in Royal Exchange Square.
In 1877, it moved to a new home, on the corner of Buchanan Street and St George's Place (now Nelson Mandela Place), designed in the Venetian Gothic style by John Burnet
In 1973, the Glasgow Stock Exchange merged with the London Stock Exchange.
Today, the stockbrokers' old home is still in the business of buying and selling, only it's clothes not commodities that are flogged in the American Apparel store.
Next time you visit, look at the carvings on the front of the building, which shows people, races, and products from the four corners of the Earth.
